You could party in Vegas, Ibiza, Rio, Bangkok, Sydney, or even Marrakesh. But one continent remains overlooked when it comes to having a good time. That’s right, we’re talking about Antarctica. Could you imagine a better adventure?

Tentative Itinerary:
- Day 1: Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
- Day 2: Board the Vavilov
- Day 3-4: The Drake Passage
- Days 5-9: South Shetland Islands and ANTARCTICA
- Day 10-12: The Drake Passage back to Tierra Del Fuego
The Vavilov was built for the Russian Academy of Science and is one of the quietest and most stable ships in Antarctica. It is small and highly manueverable, with ice-strengthened hulls.
As far as penguins go, there is no shortage of them. We’ll be seeing Chinstrap, Gentoo, and Adelie Penguins on the trip. Bring awesome cameras. Most of us are shooting on Canon SLRs. The basic rule is to stay 20ft from the penguins. If you get down on the ground, it’s pretty common for the penguins to come up to you and hang out.

Adopt a penguin and we'll bring it to Antarctica, and take a picture of it there. When we get to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, we'll mail your penguin to you. Each penguin is drawn on a postcard, either black and white or in color. They are housebroken and eat fish and ice cream. Please adopt a penguin today!

Pinguino is a force of nature whose enduring love of penguins is both a lifestyle and a religion. Her many talents and skills enrich the lives of the many, many people who call her friend. She is a spark who cannot be contained. She fuels her near-constant traveling with sugar, caffeine, and dance music.

Dave Mertl is a photographer and programmer who looks incredibly dashing in a hat. His sense of adventure leads him to try almost anything once. He’s travelled around the world, shooting stunning photos along the way.

Jose Avila is a creative thinker, a talented musician, a tequila aficionado, and an awesome friend. When he goes out to events, they become a lot more interesting, because some sort of craziness is sure to ensue.

DJ Keith Myers: During the last ten years Keith Myers has focused much of his blood, sweat, and beers into rocking the hardest, most bad ass, kick you in the balls house music you will ever hear. With roots deeply stretched out in the San Francisco rave scene and cyber-trance culture, Keith progressed from playing parties in the early days to performing at sold-out, exclusive club nights in Amsterdam and Las Vegas.

DJ Bolivia is an amazing DJ out of Canada, who runs a club at a university in New Brunswick. He’s played across Canada and the US, and has even made appearances in Tokyo and the Carribean.

Jenny O is a lively girl who loves costumes and art! She’s a wonderful painter and is going to paint a few pieces to raise money for her trip. Plus she’s the best Rockband singer we’ve got.

Chris Nelson is a high priest of Rock Band and cat wrangler of the first order. He is a spark plug for adventure and amazing projects. Don’t let his love for a good time fool you, Chris is a ninja and a closet brainiac.

In the mundane world, he babysits computers in Palo Alto. skully wants to be a curmudgeon when he grows up.

nkryptr has been a punk, a cowboy, a construction worker, a soldier, a student, and a book seller. Today he is an entrepreneur who owns his own consultancy specializing in network architecture, security, and VoIP. He enjoys things that go boom, puzzles, and getting caught in the rain.

nous is an unmarried housewife who whiles away her time perfecting the domestic arts, indulging in all things Sci Fi, and rubbing her cat’s belly. She also enjoys video games, reading, hacking things physical and digital, and engaging in political subversion.

JonM: Of all his interests, computer security is the most lucrative, and pays JonM’s mortgage. When he’s not hacking for dollars, he performs and teaches aerial circus arts at a school in Seattle, and fills the down time by doing things that are some combination of electronic, beautiful, tasty, or physical.

Adam Cecchetti spends his days as a Principal Security Consultant for Leviathan Security Group breaking things for the fortune 100. Adam spends his nights working on various projects involving robots, software, art and plots to take over the world. He is heading to Antartica to recruit for his penguin army and scout out locations for future world domination headquarters.

Earle Bishop is building a giant mech out in the California desert. This is his first real vacation, ever.

Moushka, a writer and historian, is eagerly awaiting her next research trip to the southern hemisphere. Although Moushka specializes in 17th to 19th century Middle Eastern history, her current research includes South American interests, and she will therefore be spending some time travelling throughout Argentina and Chile before and after the voyage on the Vasilov. Moushka has also recently been honored as “Baroness of the Manx Crown” for charity work in Egypt and the Sudan (Christian Children’s Fund). She also likes rum.

The Penguin Project is a trip of a lifetime, but it’s a really expensive trip. These are all of the explorers going on the trip. We’re all working hard to raise extra cash. If you’d like to help out, please paypal your donation by clicking on the donate button under their name. If the person doesn’t come up with their ticket total and ends up not going, we’ll completely refund your donation.
The Penguin Project will be doing a variety of art-related projects through the year to help everyone on the trip. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Corporate Sponsors
The Penguin Project is seeking corporate sponsorship for our trip. We have a variety of ways to give your company exposure, both on our excursion to Antarctica, and at the fundraising events we will be hosting throughout the year in Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York. Ultimately, we are seeking financial support.
Internet and Art Show Coverage:
We have many art projects in the works that will generate many, many Internet pageviews. Some of the projects include an adoption program for 1,000 handdrawn penguins, a 4.5 ft penguin made of Redbull cans, and a robotic penguin covered in jellybeans. We would be willing to include your logo in our marketing materials for our art shows, and on the pages featuring these projects, as well as on this site. The art shows will have both an Internet and print marketing campaign to bring awareness about the events, and include a charity element.
Blogs:
We will be blogging about our trip preparations and art projects, as well as our adventures from the boat. We have several photographers on board who will be documenting every aspect of our trip, and shooting both stills and video, and uploading to the Internet. If you want your product to appear in these photos, or a photoshoot to happen in Antarctica with your product, that can be arranged.
Parties:
One of the unique aspects of our trip is that we’re creating a party atmosphere on our floor of the ship. We have three DJs along for the ride who will be playing for our group, and are looking for alcohol and energy drink sponsors.
Satellite Internet
To make our Antarctic blogging efforts effective, we’re looking for a company to provide Satellite Internet. We will document all of the gear and show the setup, and display your logo throughout our site.
